The Life and Times of Some Dude

What do you like in life?

Tidbits from the Courage Wolf!

They want you to fail… BECAUSE THEY DON’T WANT TO BE ALONE.

The only true failure… IS ACCEPTING FAILURE.

Falling is not defeat… NOT GETTING UP IS.

Fall seven times… STAND UP EIGHT.

No-one is taller… THAN THE LAST MAN STANDING.

Bite off more than you can chew… THEN CHEW IT.

You are a born winner… YOU WERE THE FASTEST SPERM.

Yesterday was practice… FOR A PERFECT TOMORROW.

Yours is the drill… THAT WILL PIERCE THE HEAVENS. Wait…

One does not simply ROCK into Mordor!

One does not simply ROCK into Mordor!

Rule Zero of Writing Fantasy

Rule One is probably the underlying principle I’d want to carry throughout the project, and I am almost certain there will be more to follow. However, in my quest to write, I have discovered…

IN MY PANTS

Take any song title and add “in my pants” at the end of it:

  • Sex on Fire IN MY PANTS
  • And Then There Was Silence… IN MY PANTS
  • Bad Romance IN MY PANTS
  • Butterflies and Hurricanes IN MY PANTS! (Oh God they’re everywhere!)
  • I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That) IN. MY. PANTS.
  • Nemo in my pants
  • Theme from Blade Runner… in my pants
  • The Bridge of Khazad-Dum in my pants!
  • Symphony No. 9… in my pants

I’m sure you can all think of plenty more!

Blogger’s Block 3/21/11

Ugh, things have been busy these past couple of months. I’m writing this partly to show this is still going, to get me writing still, and to highlight a couple of things:

  • I’ve updated the…

In writing, don’t pull your punches. Do not lie to yourself; you will learn nothing if you do. Writing should be a daily habit, not a moral obligation.

I’m a poet, and I was not aware of the fact!

A Note on Writing

Write in a contemporary mindset. That is, it is one thing to use proper language, but another entirely to be stuck in the past. Language is dynamic; keep with the times. This extends to titles: do not consider your work to be titled Poetria Nova (The New Poetics) or some such phrasing, thinking you’re the new Aristotle. It’s pretentious and gives the wrong impression. It’s also just plain silly, not to mention restrictive on your own creative mindset. If you’re affecting an air of superiority, then what happens if you need to adopt a more humble attitude to what is being said? Your architecture will falter on an airy foundation and crumble as surely as you think you have risen. It will lack authority, because you are trying to be Aristotle and not yourself. Trust yourself and write for yourself.
